The most popular type of carpet underlay used in the UK is PU Foam underlay, mainly due to it's reduced weight and handleability over rubber alternatives, making it very popular with carpet fitters. Foam is also a natural insulator, and features higher levels of heat retention and soundproofing than rubber, making it a great all-round choice.
